Plant Accountant

Our client is a rapidly growing foood manufacturer in Toronto. They currently have opened a brand new facility and require a Plant Accountant. Reporting to the Controller, as the Plant Accountant, you will provide support in managing the Accounting process and Financial reporting for the organizations multiple plant facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage the flow of information and paperwork through the BOM process. Participate in new product reviews to ensure that information supporting the BOM is current and reasonable
Participate in Period End closing activities by assisting the Controller in the production of reports, analyses and reconciliation related to Productivity, Manufacturing Order variance, Spoilage and Finished Goods Inventory
Monthly closing of accounts and consolidations
Assist in the preparation of Quarterly verification of physical inventory
Assist in the implementation of new ERP software (from accounting perspective)
Maintain the company's system. Ensure that the information is coded, entered and adjusted correctly and in a timely manner
Prepare, analyze daily reports and weekly KPI’s
Provide excellent accounting support to plant operations team
The ideal candidate for this role will be a proven “roll-up-the-sleeves” accounting professional, with accounting experience in a plant manufacturing environment.

Qualifications:

3+ years accounting experience in a similar role, with a strong familiarity of financial reporting, bookkeeping, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Professional accounting designation CGA or (or near completion)
Post secondary education (Accounting, Finance)
Accounting experience within a food, manufacturing or distribution environment is highly preferred
Strong organization and prioritization skills, with a strong sense of time deadlines
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with lots of change
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and good project management skills
Strong team player a must, with the ability to take initiative
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to explain and interpret data
Familiarity implementing & using an ERP system (ie. Microsoft Navision) preferred
Exceptional data management skills in Excel and with an ERP system
