Financial Auditor - Contract Role - Government Assignment

Requirements
*Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and accounting principles, practices, methodologies (including risk management studies, control strategies, structures and systems) to plan and conduct such audit projects as: risk assessment, compliance, financial management, operational and business review and fraud investigations

*Knowledge of project management methodology to develop work plans to audits is completed within budget and target date.

*Knowledge of the business, programs, policies and legislative authorities unique to client group(s) to ensure the legislative and statutory requirements that effect client business, programs and services are addressed in all audits.

*Knowledge of consulting and education techniques to provide consulting and educational services to clients and to provide advice on various control and risk assessmen1 strategies and processes

*Consultative and customer service skills to provide advice and audit findings to client management.

*Knowledge of computer applications, controls and computer assisted audit techniques to extract and analyze information contained in computer programs;

*PC skills for word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, e-mail and database applications

*Oral and written communication skills to prepare audit reports, and present audit findings Presentation skills are required to contribute to briefing/debriefing meetings and to present investigation findings.

*Relationship management skills to build and sustain positive client relationships





Responsibilities

*Researches, plans and conducts reviews, assurance and consulting projects (e.g. risk assessment, value for money, compliance, financial, operational, and business reviews) by consulting and collaborating with clients to conduct risk assessments

*Participates as a team member on larger assurance projects and investigations Assists with the development of work plans for proposed projects, ensures plans are appropriately aligned with the objectives/scope of the project and clearly address the key risk/control areas falling within the scope of the project

*Builds and sustains positive client relationships to promote the credibility of the internal

*Auditing function and to identify and provide feedback to audit management on issues which impact the relationship.

*Determines, through established internal audit practices and methodology, the integrity accuracy and adequacy of financial and operational information used in decision making and reporting. Evaluates management processes and practices to determine whether they promote efficiency, economy and effectiveness in program delivery.

*Assists Risk and Assurance Consultants/Business Risk Consultants in the provision of risk assessment / management and educational and consulting services to assist program areas in the development of appropriate risk mitigation and control strategies.

*Prepares written reports and conducts and/or contributes to briefing/debriefing meetings to detail audit and investigation findings with options/recommendations for corrective action.

*Negotiates an appropriate action plan for Implementing the agreed upon recommendations and conducts follow-up to ensure the recommendations are Implemented. *Presents investigation findings to quasi-Judicial and judicial proceedings as necessary.

*Contributes to ongoing continuous improvement through involvement in a quality assurance program and continuous improvement activities.

*Ensures projects are in compliance with division/branch standards and professional standards. Supports a best practices and professional culture within the function

*Assesses project performance against branch and divisional objectives/performance targets and Initiates corrective action to Improve branch performance
