Our clients company is a rapidly growing commercial food manufacturing company located in Concord, Ontario.
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the VP, as Director of Operations you will be responsible for the strategic direction and overall day-to-day operations of one of our food manufacturing facilities. You will focus on providing leadership, improving productivity, costs, efficiencies, driving KPI’s, continuous improvements, expansion projects and overall operational excellence.
As a senior leader, you will oversee and lead the purchasing, planning, production, logistics, warehousing, operations, sanitation, maintenance and quality control teams all within a fast paced (JIT) food manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide senior leadership and guidance over day-to-day total operations for a facility
As a senior team member, help to develop and execute company strategies, initiatives and capital projects
Continually seek cost minimization through innovation, manufacturing efficiency and procurement/ inventory management
Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing Company and Industry standards
Manage a team of supervisors and managers in the areas of logistics, warehousing, procurement, production, operations, maintenance, sanitation and quality control
Review and set various department schedules, plans, products and manpower requirements to ensure business objectives are met
Preparation of annual budget including reviewing and recommending capital and operational expenses
The successful candidate for this role will be a seasoned “role-up-the-sleeves” manager with extensive experience in best practices in all aspects under the Supply Chain Management and Operations umbrellas.
Qualifications
10+ years food manufacturing experience in a similar role
Baking industry experience highly preferred
Post secondary education (ie. Business, Supply Chain or Operations Management)
Strong working knowledge of Total Operations and Supply Chain Management a must
“Hands-on leader” with the ability to thrive and excel in a fast paced JIT environment
Capital projects experience (ie. new operations and stream-lining existing facilities)
Knowledge/ training of Six Sigma methodologies and tools highly preferred
Resourceful, problem solver with a bias for taking action
Project Management skills with proven ability to implement change
Excellent relationship management skills (ie. customers, suppliers, contractors)
Demonstrated people management skills and proven success in leading and inspiring teams to excel
Results oriented and strategic leader with excellent planning and organizational skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP, ISO, GFSI & O.H.S.A
Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel)
